Hi, my name is Ivo Kircheis. I'm an illustrator and comicartist living in Dresden, Germany. I love sketchbooks since I started drawing at the early age of 27.
I hope this blog helps to refresh my english a little bit, so please be merciful to me... :-)

I love your drawing.
Are you a freelance?
Which brand and size of pens do you usually use? I like those with thin lines...
I read your post of" More crazy tin toys "in 12-Mar-2007.
How do you strive a balance between drawing joyfully and meticulously?
I often try hard to draw as same as the object but it turns out a lack of style...
Thanks for the comment! Yes, I'm a freelance (illustrator and comicartist).
At that time in Basel I'd usually used the FABER-CASTELL Finepen 1511 Document (a kind of fineliner). Because after a certain time the black of the lines isn't really black anymore (perhaps only on my sketchbook paper (?) it's rather a very very dark purple), I now prefer STAEDTLER Pigment Liner, a waterproof, lightfast and document proof fineliner for drawing & writing (with different line widths).
The balance between drawing joyfully and meticulously is difficult to achieve. Don't think about it too much, just draw! Good luck! :-)
I just discovered your blog, amazing sketches!
Ooooh I think this is one of my favourites. LOVE the table and chairs - grrrreat!
